Sacci Public Relations

Rocco A. Sacci has more than 40 years of experience in the public relations profession, including a wide range of positions with responsibilities for publicity, corporate communications, media relations, and civic, government and community relations programs.

He served as Director of Corporate Communications for Emery Worldwide from March 1995 until January 2001 and served as a special consultant to the company until it was acquired by UPS. Emery Worldwide was a $2.5- billion global air, ocean, customs brokerage and logistics services company operation specializing in business-to-business transportation and logistics. Since that time, Mr. Sacci continued to serve as a public relations consultant to several international cargo transportation companies, including Active Aero Group and its subsidiaries, Active On-Demand and USA Jet Airlines; as well as Panalpina, and Nippon Air Cargo.

Prior to his employment with Emery, he was president of his own public relations counseling firm in New York City for 20 years.  For nine of those years, Emery was among his major clients before being asked to join the company full time.  His other major clients included ITT Corporation; The Christophers; and Seabury & Smith insurance marketers and brokers; among others.  He also specialized in public relations programs for major sporting events, including several Summer Olympic Games.

Prior to opening his own firm, Sacci served as on-staff Director of Public Relations for the Public Relations Society of America, the national professional association of public relations practitioners, 1972-74.  From 1965 to 1972, he served as Director of Information for Catholic Relief Services, world's largest voluntary overseas aid agency where his duties included on-the-scene coverage of disasters in Vietnam, Nigeria-Biafra, Peru, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, earning many major awards for public relations programs and films which gained national attention to these tragic events and generated continuing public support to aid the victims.

He completed studies for a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, in 1963 and was graduated from Boston University in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations degree.

Sacci served for more than 10 years as an Adjunct Professor at St. John's University, New York, Communications Arts Division, teaching Introduction to Public Relations, Writing for Mass Media and Public Relations Workshop courses before he moved to the West Coast for employment with Emery.

His leisure-time includes a wide spectrum of sports activities, ranging from handball and tennis to skiing and inline skating.
